Not having any pain does NOT mean you don’t have any dental problems.
Tooth decay and gum disease need to be well advanced before they cause pain, which often ends up costing more time and money. A good example is tooth decay, it is typical to hear, "Nothing hurts, I don't have any problems," but there may be something present that needs to be diagnosed and attended too.
Tooth decay often does not hurt until it gets close to the nerve of the tooth, early detection can help you prevent root canal treatment or even extraction. At our checkups we will check your teeth, gums and for signs of mouth cancer very carefully to be able to advise you of any potential problems. If your teeth and gums are completely healthy, we will give you advice on how to keep them that way.
At Gaya American Dental everyone is welcome and the consultation is free, thus having no reason why not visit your dentist as a prophylactic measure to make sure there are no simple problems that can turn into complicated ones if they are not diagnosed on time.
- You can pay by cash (Lek, Euro, Pound, Dollar)
- Wire transfer by bank
- PayPal
All private treatment must be paid for at the completion of each visit for each part of the treatment which is completed on the day of that visit.
Many people feel a bit nervous at the thought of seeing the dentist, particularly a new dentist. Sometimes this fear or phobia is so severe it will stop people from coming to see us unless they are in really severe pain. It could be you’ve had bad experiences as a child and the smells or sounds in the clinic bring those memories back, your fear may also be very specific such as you are really afraid of injections or perhaps the sound of the drill. Whatever your problem is we are here to help!
In our team we have a psychologist who guides the dentists and the patient how to work together to overcome any fears you may have and suggests creative solutions for each person and their specific fear. The first thing to do is make an appointment, but let us know in advance you are nervous. You will find us sympathetic and friendly. We will listen to you and ask necessary questions to evaluate how we can help you. For example, people who are afraid of pain from the needle should understand that we have a solution for you.
What we do is use anesthetic cream to numb the specific areas on the gums before giving any injections, therefor taking away any possibility of feeling pain when getting the injection. We make sure you understand that you are in charge so if you need us to stop, whatever we are doing, you just wave at us and we stop, meaning we go at your pace and do treatment in short bursts.
You mustn’t feel worried about telling us to stop if you’ve had enough, we understand and we will give you a break, after which we will quickly make a temporary solution in place to be able to continue in another session. The most important step is picking up the phone and making the appointment! Keeping in mind we are here to help.
We recommend the first dental visit to be at 12 months of age, unless you notice anything that looks abnormal in your child's mouth such as white spots, lesions or bleeding, in this case you should make an appointment right away.
At your child's first visit, we'll take the time to help them acclimate to our office and staff, with a ride in the "big chair," an introduction to our tools, and an examination of their teeth and mouth. We'll explain everything we're doing step by step so your child always feels comfortable and involved, and we'll also clean their teeth if they're ready.
Our goal is to make dental visits fun for your child, while also helping them learn about the importance of their oral health.
As your child gets older, we may recommend additional services for them such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants. These treatments are designed to build small teeth and protect them from tooth decay and cavities. If your child chooses to participate in sports, we're happy to help with the right protective wear for their mouth and teeth. Almost half of dental emergencies are caused by sports injuries, so please don’t hesitate to ask your dentist for proper protection gear if your child regularly participates in sports.
We encourage parents to bring their little ones along to their own dental appointments so children can see that the dentist is not scary this is of course if the parent has no phobia of being at the dentist. We look forward to building a relationship with your child that will set them up for a lifetime of success at our dental office!
To substitute a missing tooth there are a few solutions depending on the case.
The solutions can be as follows:
- If your root is healthy, then a crown might be your solution.
- If you need to fill an empty space a bridge or denture might be the solution. In this case you need to use the other remaining teeth to hold it in place.
- If you want a more permanent, better solution and noninvasive to the other teeth, than an implant might be your solution.

Based on the laws of Albania we are not allowed to advertise prices online, but this is not the only problem with advertising general prices. Each case is in fact different then the next and each procedure may have different cost, therefor we offer quotes to make sure you are not being overcharged simply because of general prices as the procedure for your specific case may cost less than our general prices depending on the detail of your specific dental problem. We ask you to please contact us for prices.
We offer a 12-month standard guarantee on all our fillings, meaning if a filling we have done falls out or breaks without the patients fault we will replace it for you for free. This doesn’t mean that fillings last only 12 months of course they can last many years but as everything that has a guarantee for a certain period of time the same goes for our clinic. We always try to be fair and reasonable and to treat you the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee root fillings (as even perfect technique does not guarantee a 100% successful outcome), nor can we guarantee treatments that you request against our advice. For example, if we advise that the only suitable treatment for a broken tooth is a crown, and you request we do the best filling we can under the circumstances, we will always try to do what you would prefer but we cannot guarantee that filling will last and we will make you sign a waiver that you understand that we do this at your request and it is in fact against our advice. Likewise, your personal oral hygiene plays an important role in how long the dental treatment done at any clinic will last, so with each person this can be very different based on the care they take personally.
We want to make it possible for everyone to get the dental care they need no matter their financial situation. We always try our best to make it work for you! There are two options available at our clinic.
- Monthly payment option: for Albanian Citizens only - if you need to do a lot of dental treatments and you can’t make all the payment at once, we can offer you a loan with monthly payments custom made for each case based on each person’s financial situation. In this case it is important to understand that you must answer our questions and provide all necessary documents needed for obtaining the loan which is goes through a bank.
- At Gaya American Dental we offer a membership program for Albanian Residents and Citizens only. If we are your clinic of choice, then you can ask us about joining our membership program, which works as follows: sign up to become a member of Gaya American Dental and make monthly deposits to our clinic that best suits your financial situation. Signing up is free we just have to fill out some documents. The idea is to deposit a monthly membership amount which can start as low as 500 lek per month and go as high as your financial comfort. What this means is that every month you will deposit an amount agreed upon by both us and yourself, sign our registry if you are paying cash or transfer by bank, and this money gets collected under your name. It’s important to understand that there are NO membership fees and you can cancel at any time by giving a written notice to us 30 days in advance. All deposited money is saved under your name in our account and it is your money! Whenever you need a dental treatment or have an emergency, you will be taken care of right away regardless of if the sum that you have deposited over the period of months, if it covers the whole cost or not. In case it doesn’t cover the whole cost of the treatment in question, you will only have to pay the difference on the day of the treatment. If you can’t make any payment on the day of the treatment, we will discuss together how to continue with payments to eventually cover the balance owed. This program can be for individual or family, so if you wish to sign up your family members you must present their ID card to have their names on the membership papers and just in case any of the family members needs dental attention the deposited amount will go directly to the family member who needs it at that moment regardless of who is the person signing up and as long as that person’s name is on the application.
If you lose a tooth due to an accident or injury, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s lost for good. Taking the right action and getting proper emergency care can save the tooth so that it can be replanted successfully and last for years to come. Here are steps you should follow:
- Locate the tooth immediately; don't leave it at the site of the accident. Never touch the root of the tooth, only the crown (chewing surface) and make sure to handle the tooth carefully when you pick it up.
- Use only water to gently rinse off any dirt. Do not use soap or chemicals. Don’t scrub or dry the tooth, and don’t wrap the tooth in a tissue or cloth.
- Try to put the tooth back into its socket right away. Gently push it in with your fingers, by handling the crown, or position it above the socket and close your mouth slowly. Hold the tooth in place with your fingers or by gently biting down on it.
- The tooth must stay moist at all times, either in your mouth or, if it can’t be replaced in the socket, put it in milk, don’t use regular tap water; root surface cells can’t tolerate that for extended periods of time.
- Call or visit us as soon as possible. We will treat you immediately!
It is most important to re-implant the tooth as soon as possible. Ideally, this should occur within the hour of the accident. The dentist may perform a root canal right away, or may decide to wait. The best course to take will depend upon how long the tooth was out of the mouth and other factors. In any case, the dentist will splint the avulsed tooth to the teeth on either side with a soft wire and/or composite material. This will be used to hold the tooth in place for several days. Your dentist will decide how long the splint should remain. If the bone around the tooth was not fractured, the root usually will reattach firmly to the bone in about three to four weeks. More damage to the area may require six to eight weeks of repair time. Your dentist will check periodically over the next few years to ensure that the tooth re-implanted successfully.
